At The Sheffield College, we have fantastic connections with international students from all over the world. Our English courses are offered for a variety of abilities (from beginner to advanced), and range from 4-week intensive sessions to year-long study programmes. Whether you want to improve your conversational English, or study for an IELTS qualification so you can undertake further study, we have a course to suit your needs. Our tutors are fully trained and will go the extra mile to see you succeed on your course.
There are a lot of pathways available to students after completing the English as a Foreign Language course. Some students achieve a high IELTS score and go to universities, other students pass Cambridge or Trinity exams and return to their country to find work or continue their studies.

Sheffield is renowned for being a friendly city with a wealth of cultural and sporting activities, and that’s true at The Sheffield College too! There’s always something to get involved with, from 5-a-side football matches, to class trips to cultural hot-spots such as Chatsworth, York and Manchester.
Students can opt to stay with one of our host families, which is a great way to fully immerse yourself in British lifestyle and brush up on your English speaking skills! Our host families come in all shapes and sizes, some are families with children of various ages, and others are couples or people who have retired from work. Whoever your host family is, we know that they will be welcoming and friendly.
Alternatively, you can rent accommodation in a nearby hall of residence for that unique student experience.
Angela Foulkes, Chief Executive and Principal, The Sheffield College, said: “International students from around 40 countries choose to study with us every year to improve their English and enhance their academic qualifications and job prospects.”
